The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has expressed confidence that the vision of actualising a liveable and prosperous megacity would be achieved as the state clocked 31 years yesterday.
Anambra State, which is located in south eastern region of the country, was created on August 27, 1991.
Soludo, who was sworn in on March 17, 2022, gave his administration a pat on the back, noting that it is to a large extent laying the foundation for a more prosperous state.
The administration, he said, has improved the security situation in the state significantly and restored law and order, adding the recruitment of about 5,000 teachers to kick-start the massive revolution in the education sector has commenced. By the same token, over 3,000 doctors and paramedics would be recruited to vastly improve the delivery of healthcare services in the public hospitals.
The agro-economic transformation in the oil palm and coconut value chains of the economy is already taking firm root in all the 326 communities across the state. He further said that renewable energy and rehabilitation of water facilities have been stepped up massively among other provisions including social infrastructure to improve the wellbeing and living standards of every Anambra resident.
Within the five months it has been at the helm in the state, the Soludo administration had taken bold steps to ensure peace and security in the state. The governor assumed office at a time when the state was challenged by the menace of armed gangs and the so-called gunmen, who were terrorising residents. He confronted the menace headlong to restore peace and order.
