The management of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka on Thursday explained that it is addressing issues raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) UNILAG branch.

At an emergency congress on Tuesday, the union accused the university management of paying members amputated January and February salaries.

The union disclosed that the university management in January did not pay members in the main campus Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) while lecturers at Idi-Araba campus were not paid EAA and Consolidated Academic Staff Allowance (CATA) last month, noting that the same scenario played out in February.

“The university management appreciates the understanding and support of members of the university community, relevant stakeholders, and general public during this period.

Management also appeals for continued cooperation as these engagements progress in the interest of the welfare of staff and students, and the sustenance of a stable and productive academic environment,” she stated.

The university management acknowledged the numerous calls, messages, and expressions of concern from members of the university community and general public following the recent announcement by ASUU UNILAG chapter.

According to the image-maker, the university clarified that UNILAG is not on strike, adding, ‘’the planned industrial action by ASUU, UNILAG chapter, which was scheduled to commence on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, was suspended on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, prior to its commencement.

She said following ASUU’s decision, academic activities in the university continued without disruption, including the first semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session, which are currently ongoing.
