American Football: Akwa Ibom, Ondo, Lagos teams maintain dominance

18 Flag Football teams from Secondary schools in 9 states were in Calabar Stadium to jostle for glory and trophy as the Nigeria American Football Association, (NAFA) hosted the National Flag Football Tournament Finals.

Teams from Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Lagos State have so far produced results that confirmed their good understanding as well as dominance in the sport.

Defending Champions, Team Akwa male 20 points while Cross River had 0 points. Akwa Ibom also defeated Benue by 18-0.

Lagos female team were better than Oyo state by 22 -6  points. Also,

Ondo boys defeated Rivers State 26-0.

The President of NAFA, Babajide Akeredolu was physically excited to see the young players demonstrate brilliant skills in Flag Football.

Akeredolu said, “American Football is here to stay and we are looking forward to doing greater things for the country.

Akeredolu explained that the American Football has offered opportunities including job opportunities including coaching, umpiring, and careers in the USA based teams like the Cleveland Browns.
