ALPs to address critical health challenges at Confab

Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs), said it would address critical challenges and issues bedeviling the pharmaceutical sub-sector of the healthcare ecosystem of Nigeria, at its 16th Biennial Conference 2024.
At a pre- conference media chat in Lagos, the National Chairman, ALPs, Mrs. Scholastica Lan, told newsmen that the 2024 confab would be different one because it would specifically look into Sustainable Development Goals Number 3(Good Health & Well-being); 4(Quality Education); and 6(Clean Water and Sanitation); and by extension, other goals as the 17 Goals complement each other.
The 5-day biennial conference, which commenced today, May 14, would come to an end on May 18, 2024, in Edo State. The confab would involve technical and brainstorming sessions of experts in the pharmaceutical industry who would diagnose the impediments ravaging the subsector and come up with sustainable panacea aimed at boosting pharmaceutical impact on national economy.
With the theme: ‘Pharmacy: Making Healthcare Impact in tandem with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030,’ the group assured that Nigerians would witness a positive change with respect to their health, following the outcome of the intellectual gathering.
“With over 600 participants expected which involves academic giants as resource persons and other thought leaders in the industry, we are certain that there would a turnaround, as feasible ideas and innovative ideas, initiatives and concepts would be delivered to move the sector forward.
“The adoption of the agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development opened new opportunities to work towards healthy outcomes for all through government and society/community approaches.
“We are plagued with a high burden of healthcare needs on this side of the continent and much of healthcare delivery is dependent on the quality of pharmaceutical products and commodities,” Lan affirmed.
ALPs urged the federal government to implement the National Health insurance Act of 2022, which tends to improve the healthcare system and facilities among other benefits for Nigerians.
Commenting, the Central Planning Committee Chairman, Mrs. Rametu Momodu, added that the confab would not be a mere gathering; but a melting pot of ideas, experiences, and perspectives, where professionals come together to cross -pollinate and fertilize ideas that transcends geographical boundaries.
Momodu described the forum as a gathering to learn, unlearn and relearn to unlock the potentials and opportunities not only as the female gender but, as professionals to forge business relationship, communicate, network, and promote face to face transactions.
“Mentorship is highlighted as pivotal in guiding the next generation towards excellence and ethical practice. The spotlight on expertise in herbal medicine underscores the importance of the rich biodiversity in plants, ensuring holistic care for our patients.
“It would be a time where ideas would take deep roots and flourish, collaborations strengthened, and the pursuit of excellence in pharmacy continues to thrive, all are geared towards service to humanity. We shall create a fertile ground for creativity to thrive and blossom into transformative initiatives that propel our profession forward into a brighter and promising future,” she affirmed.
