Alleged N23bn Campaign fund: Again EFCC detains Nenadi Usman

THE travail of former finance minis­ter and director general of finance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign Mrs Nenadi Usman is far from being over as the Economic and Financial Crimes Com­mission (EFCC) has again quizzed her over the alleged N23 billion she shared among PDP chieftains during the 2015 elections.

Nenadi who was grilled at the Gombe zonal office of the commis­sion was asked to explain how she disbursed the campaign funds to PDP chapters in the Northeast. The money was said to have allegedly been given to the former minister by the former minister of petroleum resources, Mrs Deziani Allison- Madueke.

Nenadi was recently arraigned by the EFCC over another aspects of the 2015 campaign money which she shared to facilitate the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A source at the commission re­vealed that Mrs. Nenadi Usman said she met Mrs. Alison Madueke who gave her a paper containing a specific amount of money to be given to each states of the federation and directed her as the director general for finance in the build up of 2015 presidential election to contact and send all the representatives of every state to go to the Fidelity Bank to collect the cam­paign funds so as to deliver the PDP across the country.

She explained that Bauchi State got N500 million through Senator Babayo Garba, Gombe State N450 million through Senator Saidu Umar Kumo, Adamawa State N450 million through the former Governor James Nggi­lari while Taraba State also collected N450 million through the former act­ing governor of the state Sani Abuba­kar Danladi and Senator Joel Ikenya.

Nenadi, the source said, admitted to the Commission that she did not know the source of the fund as she claimed that Alison-Madueke collect­ed the paper that contained the details of the amount.

She stated that she had earlier re­ported to the head office of EFCC in Abuja, Kano, Lagos and Gombe zonal offices to clarify how the multi-bil­lion naira campaign bribe money was shared to the PDP chieftains.

The source noted that Usman was granted administrative bail by Gombe zonal office of the Commission pend­ing the full investigation of the mat­ter.
