Alexander Emmanuel’s ‘Scarlet’ to be adapted into film

Scarlet, a novel written by Alexander Emmanuel, has been optioned for film adaptation. Scarlet is an epic fantasy fiction that limns Grecian myths, Yoruba myths, and Kikuyu folklore.

The full-length adaptation will be handled by Sobe Charles Umeh of 1st Rate Pictures, an award-winning Canadian-based Nollywood director and producer.

With its blend of impressive Afrofuturism, history and folklore, fans and film lovers are keeping their fingers crossed on the film’s debut.

The author is an officer with the Nigerian Air Force and an academic who honed his writing craft after secondary school.

He debuted as a published writer with The Diary of a Boy Soldier, a novella detailing the main character’s experience during his training at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.

He is currently a researcher at the Rivers State University, and has wormed his heart into the hearts of Nigerian and foreign audiences.
