President General, Alaba International Market Council of Sectional Heads, Dr. Camilus Amajuoyi, has stated that the famous Alaba Electronics Market is once again living up to its reputation as a true international trading hub.
Speaking recently during his third year anniversary, Amajuoyi, who doubles as the President of International Market Association Electronics (IMAE), said that the policies and programmes of his administration have restored the image of the market as an international market.
According to him, all the commitments he made during his campaign for the presidency of the International Market Association Electronics have been fully delivered within just one year in office.
He recalled that before his administration took office three years ago, every rainfall left the market heavily flooded, disrupting movement and trading activities.
However, he noted that his leadership has since constructed a state-of-the-art drainage system that now effectively channels floodwater away from the market.
“Before, whenever it rained, Alaba would be flooded, but today the story has changed,” he said.
Amajuoyi, whose slogan “The New Face of Alaba” has become synonymous with transformation, said the market’s facelift has created a world-class trading environment. “People now feel like they are abroad whenever they visit the market,” he added, noting that many traders who had previously left due to poor infrastructure are now returning.
He expressed gratitude to the market’s founding fathers, past presidents, and members of his executive for their “support, teamwork, and tireless efforts” in actualizing the New Face of Alaba vision.
“Success is about teamwork. Nobody can succeed alone,” he emphasised.
The well-attended anniversary drew dignitaries from across the market community, including former ASPMDA president Chief Sunny Igboanuzue, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and top government officials. The event featured awards of excellence and recognition for individuals who have supported the administration, alongside moments of prayers and thanksgiving.
