Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and leading aspirant for the office of the Senate President in the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has lauded the First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari, on the completion and inauguration of the headquarters building of African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM), in Abuja.
The former Minister, Niger Delta Affairs, noted that the completion of the project and its inauguration within the life span of the current administration, “is a clear demonstration of the resilience, commitment and dedication of the First Lady and her team towards ensuring peace and security in Nigeria in particular and Africa at large”.
A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jackson Udom and made available to newsmen quoted the former Senate Minority Leader as saying, “ Let me congratulate our dear First Lady on this uncommon feat and achievement. Your commitment to the welfare of our women and youths with the inauguration of the building particularly, the inclusion of a research unit on peace and security provide insight into your quest for a peaceful Nation where prosperity of the people shall thrive unhindered.
“Your commitment to ensuring peace in Africa by collaborating with other African countries through their respective offices of First Ladies is highly commendable, because in the absence of peace, strifes take the centre stage and in such avoidable situations, our women and youths are always at the receiving end of those needless conflicts.
“I thank you and your team for also setting up a research unit in the secretariat for the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge in the area of security and peace, apart from providing conducive office facilities and accommodation for the staff. Without peace there can be no meaningful development in the world and that is why I commend you and your team for putting national peace and security on the front burner of our national enterprise,” the statement said.
