Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr Waheed Ayilara, has warned criminals to stay away from the state: “It will be too hot for them to operate. We have arrested 15 suspected criminals in their hideouts.
“I have sent signal to criminals who are from neighbouring states. Our officers and men are ready to flush criminals out of the state. I have visited all the divisions and area commands in Uyo.
“Communities promised the command to work towards safeguarding the rights of citizens. That brought the establishment of Police Complaint Response Unit within the command. All stakeholders should support in curbing crimes and criminalities.
“They should imbibe community policing to fight criminals out of the state. Officers are warned to shun corruption and unprofessional conducts. The force leadership will not tolerate indiscipline.
“The command has arrested 18 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. Operatives arrested some armed robbers in Uyo and rescued some victims from kidnappers in their hideouts in the Oron axis.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested seven suspected kidnappers within Ikot Abasi Local Government and Obolo. Police raided their hideouts in the forest and recovered weapons. Today, Akwa Ibom is safe and we are and ready to checkmate hoodlums.”
