Fast-rising French musician Harley Echene Mathieu Yoan Ilfix popularly known as Harley has emphasised the need to acknowledge songwriters and producers for their creativity because they deserve recognition and credit in the field.

The 22-year-old Afro-French artiste discussed the difficulties faced by musicians, emphasising the importance of persistence and enthusiasm while recognising that the music industry continued to change.

According to him, people should be optimistic about the future of Afrobeats in the Western world noting its rapid global influence. Therefore, predicting further growth and prominence as a leading genre on the global stage is certain.

In a recent interview, Harley revealed his experiences, inspirations, and goals. He disclosed that his uncle, a musician, kindled his love for musicals, and he joined the profession five years ago.

“I got into music thanks to my uncle who was a musician, who lived with us when I was little, watching him all do it alone, I developed a taste for it and it became my passion. This played a significant role in my musical journey.” He said.

Aiming to combine Afro and Amapiano vibes with his 2024 album launch, Harley hopes to leave a mark with his works. He wanted to lift up the perception of Afro-music in France, highlighting the need for real lyrics and representation.

“I have my album which will be released this 2024, with an afro/amapiano atmosphere which I hope will make an impression, I am committed to doing it as a project.” He said.

He added that being an independent artist with a label that is part of Sony, he understands the importance of having the right team and finding to balance between artistic integrity and industrial interest. Hence, his enthusiasm to work with established stars like Asake, Davido, Chris Brown and Rema.

“I would like to collaborate with Asake, Davido, Chris Brown and Rema,” he said.

Harley is making waves in a new genre of music that incorporates his Ivorian roots and contemporary French to produce Afrobeat and Amapiano rhythms.
