Lagos is set to reclaim the spotlight as Africa’s dispute resolution capital, hosting the 10th ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), a flagship gathering of global arbitration experts, policymakers and business leaders.

The high-level event, organised by the ICC International Court of Arbitration in collaboration with ICC Nigeria, will take place from June 3 to 5, 2026 at the Lagos Continental Hotel. It is themed: “A Decade of Excellence: Shaping the Future of International Arbitration & ADR in Africa.”

Proceedings will kick off on June 3 with a specialised training session on drafting enforceable arbitral awards, facilitated by the ICC Institute of World Business Law. The session is designed to equip participants with practical tools to navigate the complexities of arbitration rulings and ensure global enforceability.

The main conference, scheduled for June 4 and 5, will feature intensive sessions on key issues shaping dispute resolution across the continent. These include cross-border commercial disputes, enforcement of arbitral awards, investment arbitration, energy and infrastructure conflicts, as well as the growing role of technology and innovation in arbitration practice. Discussions will also interrogate Africa’s expanding footprint within the global arbitration ecosystem.

A distinguished lineup of speakers is expected, including the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Claudia Salomon; Chair of ICC Nigeria’s Arbitration and ADR Commission, Dorothy Udeme Ufot (SAN); as well as Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Afam Osigwe (SAN), Lawal Pedro (SAN), and Funke Adekoya (SAN), among others.

According to ICC Nigeria, the conference provides a critical platform to deepen arbitration practice across Africa, boost investor confidence, and strengthen efficient dispute resolution systems vital for economic growth and cross-border trade.

The event is expected to draw a broad spectrum of participants, including lawyers, arbitrators, corporate counsel, judges, academics, regulators and policymakers from across Africa and beyond. Together, they will examine emerging trends, tackle persistent challenges, and explore new opportunities shaping the future of arbitration and ADR on the continent.

Hosting the milestone event further cements Lagos’ rising profile as a leading hub for international arbitration, legal innovation, and commercial dispute resolution in Africa.
