When Mariam Kuku founded Brandslay Studios Ltd., her vision was clear — to create powerful stories that reflect the richness of human experiences and the diversity of African cultures. Today, that vision is taking her to one of the world’s biggest entertainment markets.
The media entrepreneur and creative producer will be among the African delegates at MIPCOM Cannes 2025, where industry leaders from around the world gather to buy, sell, and collaborate on film and television content. For Mariam, the moment represents both an opportunity and a responsibility to showcase authentic African storytelling on a global platform.
With a professional background spanning media communications, sales, strategic marketing management, and distribution, Mariam leads a talented team of young creatives who are passionate about creating meaningful content. Through Brandslay Studios, they produce a wide range of projects across film, television, and digital media. “Brandslay Studios is a creative production company driven by a team of young storytellers who are passionate about celebrating human diversity,” she explains. “We produce a variety of content including short films, scripted and unscripted series, documentaries, TV commercials, brand storytelling, and event coverage.”
One of the company’s most notable productions is the TV series Another Ramadan, which has enjoyed three successful seasons and more than 75 episodes broadcast across 25 terrestrial, cable, and online television and radio platforms. The series has built a loyal audience and inspired new projects currently in development.

Among these are Moon Buddies and Halal Cuisines, two spin-off concepts from Another Ramadan designed to connect with families, children, and mothers through engaging and relatable storytelling. Brandslay Studios is also making waves with its food documentary series, Tales of Naija Flavours. The programme explores Nigeria’s vibrant food culture, highlighting the recipes, drinks, and culinary traditions that reflect the country’s diverse communities. Beyond the meals themselves, the series dives into the stories, memories, and emotions that food can evoke.
The show is currently airing on 15 television stations across Nigeria and gaining visibility on major cable platforms across Africa. Another proud achievement for the studio is its documentary short film I Am Psyched, which has travelled across several local and international film festivals, earning awards and recognition along the way.
As Mariam prepares for MIPCOM, she and her team are bringing new titles and projects to the market with hopes of building strategic partnerships that can expand their reach and introduce their stories to new audiences worldwide. “At Brandslay Studios, we focus on authentic stories that reflect everyday realities and shared human experiences,” she says. “Our goal is to create content that inspires, shifts mindsets, and contributes positively to society.”She also sees global film markets like MIPCOM as an important gateway for African storytellers seeking international exposure and collaboration. “We are excited to be part of MIPCOM Cannes 2025 and to connect with potential partners who believe in the power of storytelling,” Mariam adds.
The Brandslay Studios team will be exhibiting at Stand P-1.H71 under the Creative Africa Content Pavilion, where they hope to meet distributors, co-producers, and collaborators interested in bringing African stories to wider audiences. For Mariam, the journey to Cannes represents more than just a business milestone — it is another step in a larger mission to ensure African voices and narratives continue to be seen, heard, and celebrated across the world.
