SUPER Eagles interim manager, Samson Siasia, is not happy with the home based players currently sweating it out for a place in the squad that will face Egypt later this month in the all-important AFCON 2017 qualifiers and the coach is not hiding it.

Siasia who on the very first day of camping, off loaded three players for reporting late, had warned the home boys to step up their game or forget getting a place when he reels out his squad. The coach read the riot act to the players after they fell 0-2 to Dream Team in a tune up match.

Giwa FC’s defensive midfielder, Chris Madaki while confirming Siasia’s warning told SuperSports. com that the message of the coach was making every player to re double efforts.

“Coach (Siasia) wasn’t really pleased (after the game against Dream Team) and has urged us (the players) to step up our game. Everyone is on their toes now and are stepping up fitness and other aspects of our game.” Madaki told SuperSports.

Meanwhile, Siasia will today release the players to go and feature for their clubs in this weekend’s NPFL league games. One player that would how  ever not be tasting league action, no thanks to injury is Rangers striker, Orji Kalu who copped an injury yesterday.

NFF media officer, Ademola  Olajire confirmed Kalu’s injury but was quick to add that it is not a serious one.

League leaders, Rangers are this weekend (Sunday)  in for the mother of all battles away in Umuahia against Abia Warriors in what unarguably is the NPFL star match of the  week.
