Israel Adesanya endured another difficult night in the octagon, falling to Joe Pyfer by technical knockout in the main event of a UFC Fight Night clash.
The bout, held at the Climate Pledge Arena, saw Pyfer deliver a commanding performance, stopping the former middleweight champion at 4:18 of the second round to secure one of the biggest victories of his career.
Adesanya began brightly, showing flashes of his trademark movement and striking in the opening round. However, Pyfer remained composed under pressure, gradually shifting the momentum with a mix of power punches and grappling control.
The decisive moment came in the second round when Pyfer pinned Adesanya against the fence, took the fight to the canvas and unleashed a relentless barrage of ground strikes, forcing the referee to halt the contest.

“I just have this mentality where I don’t care; I’m going to search and destroy,” Pyfer said afterwards, reflecting on his aggressive approach. Despite the setback, Adesanya struck a defiant tone, insisting he has no intention of stepping away from the sport. “I’m just going to keep going and going and going,” he said.
The defeat marks a fourth consecutive loss for Adesanya, a stark contrast to the dominance that once defined his reign in the middleweight division.
For Pyfer, the victory represents a significant breakthrough, strengthening his claim as a rising contender and potentially moving him closer to title contention.
For Adesanya, however, the result raises fresh questions about his future, as a once-commanding figure in the division now finds himself at a crossroads.
