Adeola to facilitate 12 power projects in Ogun

The senator representing Ogun West senatorial district at the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has expressed his readiness to intervene and provide solution to the lingering power outages in some parts of Ogun West and Ogun Central senatorial districts.

Adeola, chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, explained that his decision to be personally involved in solving the power crisis, followed written and verbal appeals from residents, business owners, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders in the affected communities.

In a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, on Sunday,  the senator empathized with the communities and lamented that such prolonged power outage would not only affect businesses that cannot afford the huge cost of alternative energy, but the quality of lives of the people.

“I have listened carefully to the cries of our people in Ogun West and adjoining parts of Ogun Central. The persistent power outages have crippled businesses and made life more difficult for our people residing in many communities and settlements. As their elected representative and Apostle of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I cannot fold my arms while my people and my people suffer in darkness. I am fully committed to ensuring that power is restored and sustained in the shortest possible time going forward”, the senator was quoted to have stated in the statement.

He, however, disclosed that his intervention would include the mobilization and concluding negotiations with electrical engineering contractors to undertake immediate critical rehabilitation, reconnection, and construction works as well as supply of transformers across the affected areas. Senator Adeola added that other electrification projects slated for  execution include reactivation of Ilaro to Ibese 33KV overhead lines; reactivation of Ibese to Dangote 33KV overhead lines; reactivation of Dangote to Joga Orile 33KV overhead lines; reactivation of Isaga Junction to Ibara Orile and Isaga 33KV oerhead lines and reactivation of Ibese to Igbogila 33KV overhead lines (118 spans).

Other projects according to the statement are “reactivation of Igbogila to Ayetoro 33KV Overhead Lines; reactivation of Igbogila to Ijoun 33KV Overhead Lines, reactivation of 33KV Overhead Lines from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro to Oja Odan through Ebute Igbooro (331 spans); construction of dedicated 33KV Feeder to Ilaro Township from Papalanto Transmission Station; construction of Owode Feeder from Ota Transmission Station to Owode River Bridge, including maintenance works along Idiroko – Ipokia – Akere – Yewa Aferiku Town, Tube – Ode Pata– Agada – Igua Agosasa – Bode Ase – Idosemo – Idosa – Ijofin Oke-Odan – Eyekanse Isagbo – Oke Ijako – Owo Ita Atan – Ilase Junction Owode Ajilete Inside – Ihumbo –Idiroko, Iwoye Owode Agosasa – Tube – Igude among others.”

The statement stated further that a 500KVA 11/0.415KV transformers will be installed at Onikoko and  Kings Dominion Street, Off Kuforiji Olubi Road, Saraki Area, Adigbe, Abeokuta.

The Senator emphasised that the 12 power intervention projects represent part of a comprehensive and sustained power infrastructure rehabilitation programme designed to ensure reliable and equitable electricity supply across all communities within Ogun West and adjoining areas.

“Electricity is the backbone of industrial and social development. By addressing these power challenges, we are restoring hope, reviving local economies, and creating an enabling environment for business growth”, he submitted
