The Adekunle Gold Foundation has continued its efforts to support people living with sickle cell disease, providing critical healthcare services to more than 400 patients during its quarterly medical outreach in Lagos.

The outreach, organised in partnership with the Sickle Cell Advocacy & Management Initiative, provided beneficiaries with medical consultations, laboratory tests, blood transfusions, pain management, physiotherapy, and essential medications. Patients also received prescription drugs and treatment supplies to support their healthcare needs for up to three months.

Founded by Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold, who has lived with sickle cell disease since childhood, the foundation aims to improve access to healthcare, raise awareness, and support research into better treatment options.

Speaking on the initiative, Adekunle Gold said his personal experience with the condition inspires his commitment to helping others access quality care.

Beyond medical outreaches, the foundation has expanded its impact through the 5 Star Care Initiative, which provided free health insurance coverage for 1,000 patients with sickle cell disease, and through research collaborations with the New York University Department of Global Health aimed at improving treatment outcomes for people living with the disease.

The foundation’s efforts continue to provide much-needed support to thousands affected by sickle cell disease in Nigeria and beyond.
