The Adekunle Gold Foundation in partnership with a financial technology platform Pesa, has launched a $20,000 initiative to strengthen support for people living with sickle cell disease by funding organisations that provide essential healthcare services, advocacy, and patient support.

Tagged We’re Not Done: AG Foundation Sickle Cell Impact Initiative, the programme supports organisations working to improve access to healthcare, provide patient assistance, promote public awareness, and advance advocacy for people affected by the disease.

The inaugural beneficiaries are the Sickle Cell Advocacy Management Initiative in Nigeria, Not Just You in Canada, Sickle Life in Ghana, and It Takes A Village in the United Kingdom, along with the Adekunle Gold Foundation.

The initiative seeks to strengthen these organisations’ capacity to expand their reach, sustain their programmes, and provide more effective support to individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

Singer Adekunle Gold, who has openly shared his experience of living with the inherited blood disorder, said the programme was established to move beyond awareness campaigns by providing practical resources to organisations working directly with affected communities.

“We’re Not Done is about turning awareness into action,” he said, emphasising the importance of equipping organisations with the resources needed to deepen their impact and reach more people.

Pesa’s Head of Global Growth and Marketing, Tosin Olaniyi, said the partnership reflects a commitment to providing meaningful support for people affected by sickle cell disease, particularly in Nigeria and the wider Black community.

The collaboration combines advocacy and financial resources to address challenges faced by people living with the condition, including access to healthcare, patient support, and reliable information.

Founded in 2023, the Adekunle Gold Foundation focuses on improving the lives of people living with sickle cell disease through healthcare access, public awareness and advocacy. The latest initiative builds on these objectives by supporting organisations working across different communities and healthcare environments.
