The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended Dr. Patrick Adebola, whose tenure as Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) recently ended, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s history.

NANS leadership joined stakeholders in celebrating Dr. Adebola, acknowledging his service as a visionary leader, whose time in office was characterised by excellence, innovation and unwavering dedication to national agricultural research.

Dr Adebola assumed office during a critical period and his leadership is credited with transforming CRIN into a more vibrant, research-driven and farmer-oriented establishment. Through strategic initiatives, CRIN recorded notable achievements across the cocoa, kola and cashew value chains. In a statement by Oladimeji Uthman, Executive Director of Administration and Planning, NANS expressed profound gratitude for Adebola’s contributions.

“As he bows out honourably, Dr. Adebola leaves behind a legacy defined by institutional growth, research excellence and national service. His achievements will continue to shape CRIN’s direction long into the future, providing a strong foundation for sustained innovation within Nigeria’s tree crop sector,” Uthman noted.

He added: “Among his accomplishments is the enhancement of research infrastructure, the repositioning of CRIN’s laboratories and field stations and the promotion of improved, disease-resistant crop varieties that have boosted productivity for thousands of farmers.

His commitment to cultivating strong partnerships with local communities, national agencies, international research bodies and private sector stakeholders strengthened the institute’s relevance and broadened its impact.”
