The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has taken steps to address the leadership crisis in the state.
A three-man investigative and disciplinary committee has been set up to look into the matter and make recommendations for an amicable resolution within 14 days of its inauguration and submit a report according to the constitution of the party.
The party’s resolution was contained in a statement released to journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital by the zonal publicity secretary, Chilos Godsent after an emergency meeting convened by the National Vice Chairman of the ADC, South East, Bon Unachukwu in Owerri.
Dr. Uche Edeh, according to the statement, is the chairman of the committee, Chioma Anyanwu is the secretary while Chilos Godsent is a member.
The committee in their mandate are expected to engage with major leaders and stakeholders, interact with factional groups, reviewing petitions and relevant documents and making recommendations for a resolution
According to Godsent, the party has appealed to all parties, leaders and members in Abia State to remain calm and cooperate fully with the committee as it carries out its task.
Kano Governor inaugurates Shura Advisory Council

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated the state Shura Council with the task of advising the government on matters of societal transformation and moral upliftment.
A statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad on Monday, said the inauguration was held at Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf said the council’s primary mandate was to work in close collaboration with the government to combat societal ills such as drug abuse and thuggery among the youth, with the aim of guiding them toward a more positive path.
He added that the council’s role also included advising Friday Imams to present their sermons in a manner that will preach peaceful coexistence among citizens.
He expressed gratitude to the Ulama for their tireless efforts in propagating Islam not only in Kano but across Nigeria.
He affirmed his belief in the Ulama to bring about lasting positive change for the state’s transformation, citing their unlimited capacity to checkmate immorality, unlike politicians who are constrained by limited tenures.
He emphasised that the promotion of Islam and the betterment of the state are core priorities of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led administration.
He assured the council members that his administration would not interfere in religious affairs and expressed his delight at reuniting with many of the familiar faces on the council, reaffirming his good intentions for the state’s progress.
The council, comprised of prominent Islamic scholars (Ulama), traditional rulers, and members of the business community.
In his acceptance speech, Wazirin Kano, Sheik Sa’ad Shehu, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for choosing them to serve on the council.
He disclosed that the task bestowed upon them is not easy, praying to God to give them the wisdom to carry out their duties efficiently.
