David Mark has moved to calm rising tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing fears that the party’s internal crisis could derail its stability ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a church service held to mark his 78th birthday, the embattled national chairman said recent developments within the party should not be misinterpreted as a breakdown of unity.
“On the issue of the ongoing developments within our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), I wish to assure our members and Nigerians at large that there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
Mark described the tensions as part of a broader evolution within the party, rather than a sign of disintegration.
“Challenges are a natural part of any growing institution. What is important is our collective resolve to overcome them,” he added.
Despite rival claims and deepening factional disputes, he maintained that the party’s leadership and members remain aligned on core objectives.
“We remain united, determined, and focused on strengthening the party and upholding democratic values,” he said.

He further linked the party’s internal stability to Nigeria’s democratic future, stressing a continued commitment to national development.
“Let me reiterate that we are fully committed to the survival of democracy and the development of our dear nation, Nigeria,” he said.
The former senate president also assured that the party would remain focused on delivering democratic gains to citizens.
“We will continue to work tirelessly, guided by discipline, integrity, and patriotism, to ensure that our democratic institutions are preserved and that the dividends of democracy reach all our people,” he said.
Reflecting on his personal milestone, he signalled continued involvement in national affairs.
“At 78, my resolve remains unshaken. I am inspired more than ever to contribute my quota to national unity, peace, and progress,” he said.
His remarks come amid a deepening leadership crisis within the ADC, with multiple factions laying claim to control of the party, raising broader questions about its cohesion and readiness for upcoming electoral contests.
