The Adamawa South senator-elect, Binos Yaro, has faulted INEC’s decision to declare Adamawa’s gubernatorial election inconclusive, saying the supplementary election was merely an academic exercise and a waste of taxpayers money, as it would still return PDP’s candidate as the winner.

Binos who was elected on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) made the remarks on Monday while addressing journalists in Yola.

He said INEC should have declared the PDP candidate the winner of the governorship election having scored the highest vote. “We have it on good records that the number of votes collated in the 44 polling units is less than the leading margin but INEC has fixed March 23 for the supplementary election.

“I urge our people to come in their numbers and vote out APC.

“INEC is engaging in an academic exercise in conducting a re-run to delay the inevitable.

“No magic could upturn the margin of lead by PDP governorship candidate which is already bigger than the number of votes collated in the 44 polling units for the rerun.”

The senator-elect said part of his mission in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly is to ensure educational support for at least 300 underprivileged students in his senatorial district.

He said: “In my capacity as an individual, I have sponsored over 20 students up to university level and now as a senator, l will continue to pursue that cause because I believe education is an important step in furthering the interest of my people.

“I will liase with relevant agencies in government to bring lasting peace to the area and work towards addressing the lingering ethno-religious crisis in the zone.”

He assured that when legislative duties fully resume, the PDP senators in the National Assembly would team up to give the state what their outgoing APC counterpart could not do for the state.

He also commended members of his senatorial zone for standing firm during the elections.

He said: “I want to convey my appreciation to the people of Southern senatorial zone, for voting for me and standing by their votes.

“I have transversed the entire district, identifying the challenges of the people; I will give them effective representation in the NASS.”
