Legendary British actor Ian McKellen has revealed that he sustained injuries after his shocking fall during a West End production two weeks ago.

The 85-year-old Lord of the Rings star took a tumble, falling head-first while performing in a play at the Noel Coward Theatre in London a fortnight ago.

Sharing an update with fans on Tuesday via his official X handle, the thespian stated that he is recovering from the injuries to his wrist and neck.

McKellen disclosed that his doctor has assured complete recovery, adding that he is to avoid work over the coming few weeks.

“Just two weeks after my accident onstage I want to assure my many well-wishers that the injuries (to wrist and neck) are on the mend. My doctor’s promise a complete recovery – but only if I avoid work over the next few weeks,” he shared.

McKellen, also known for playing the charismatic antagonist Magneto in the X-Men films, was hospitalized after the fall.

After the incident, the audience was evacuated from the theatre and the evening show was cancelled. A theatre representative had released a statement saying the actor would make a speedy recovery.

“Thank you to our audience and the general public for their well wishes following Ian’s fall during this evening’s performance of ‘Player Kings,’” reads the statement.
