At the Nigeria International Book Fair 2024, Accessible Publishers Ltd, an Ibadan-based company, launched Accessible Studybase, a revolutionary educational platform poised to reshape teaching and learning in Nigeria. The event, filled with anticipation and excitement, highlighted a new era for educational accessibility and inclusivity.

Mr. Gbadega Adedapo, the MD/CEO of Accessible Publishers Ltd, addressing the audience, shared the journey that led to this moment. He recounted how the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic four years ago underscored the need to leverage technology in educational publishing. This realisation prompted the rebranding from Rasmed Publications to Accessible Publishers Ltd in 2021, with a clear mission to make educational materials inclusive and accessible across all formats.

He emphasised that Accessible Studybase was more than just a platform — “It’s a catalyst for change.” Designed as a comprehensive web application, Accessible Studybase aims to enhance teaching, learning, and school administration in real-time. It integrates a virtual teaching series aligned with Nigeria’s educational standards, offering multimedia-rich content for both students and educators.

The launch theme, ‘Leverage Technology to Enhance Learning and Reduce School Operational Cost,’ resonated deeply with the audience. Accessible Studybase promised to digitise education, engage learners, and foster a new era of interactive learning experiences.

“Education shouldn’t be confined by physical limitations,” Adedapo asserted, adding, “Accessible Studybase breaks down barriers, offering a pathway to knowledge that transcends traditional boundaries.”

The platform’s core functionality extended far beyond virtual classrooms. It encompassed modules for enrollment, student and teacher profiling, attendance management, online payments, and more. Accessible Studybase aimed to streamline school operations, empowering educators with tools to enhance their teaching efficacy and administrative efficiency.

Mr. Dapo Adebayo, the Digital Manager behind Accessible Studybase, underscored the platform’s unique selling points, when he said, “Where there is no teacher, we have got you covered.” The platform’s curriculum-based content enabled self-directed learning, allowing students to prepare for examinations and access supplementary educational materials independently.

As the launch unfolded, prominent figures within Nigeria’s educational and literary circles voiced their support. Mr. Dare Oluwatuyi, President of the Booksellers Association of Nigeria, praised Accessible Studybase as a revolutionary step towards modernising education. Chief Cyril Uchenna Anioke, President of the Nigeria Publishers Association, lauded Adedapo’s foresight in harnessing digital technologies to address educational challenges.

Mrs. Grace Samuel, Deputy Director at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), expressed a commitment to promoting local innovation in education, emphasising the importance of leveraging indigenous expertise to drive educational reform.

The launch event also spotlighted the diverse voices behind Accessible Publishers Ltd. Mrs. Bolaji Ladipo’s passion for indigenous language education was showcased through her Yoruba children’s content series. Funmi Ilori, founder of iRead Mobile Library, contributed pre-nursery textbooks, emphasising social education and literacy. Notable author, Anote Ajeluorou’s literary contributions further underscored Accessible Publishers’ commitment to diverse educational resources.

Adedapo’s vision extended beyond digital content; it encompassed a paradigm shift towards inclusive, technology-driven pedagogy. “This platform is more than just software,” Adedapo remarked. “It’s a testament to our resilience in the face of adversity and our determination to empower the next generation of learners.”

As the dust settled on this momentous occasion, it was clear that a new chapter in Nigeria’s educational narrative had begun — one defined by innovation, accessibility, and the boundless possibilities of technology.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for robust, adaptable educational solutions became starkly apparent. Adedapo saw this need and responded with a vision that placed technology at the forefront of educational advancement. His journey from Rasmed Publications to Accessible Publishers Ltd. reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that every student, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, has access to quality education.

Accessible Studybase stands out as a pioneering effort to revolutionise education through technology. It offers a suite of tools designed to address various educational needs, from virtual classrooms that make learning more engaging to administrative software that streamlines school operations. By integrating multimedia-rich content with traditional teaching methods, the platform provides a comprehensive learning experience that is both modern and effective.
