The General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Sam Aboyeji, has urged Nigerians to turn from wickedness and embrace righteousness as a pathway to national healing and economic restoration.

Speaking at the Holy Spirit Refreshing Dew Jubilee Praise held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, Aboyeji explained that the venue carried a prophetic significance, recalling that 65 years ago, the Nigerian flag was first raised at the same TBS, symbolizing the country’s birth into independence.

“Today, as a prophetic act, we return here to pray for Nigeria’s restoration,” he declared, adding: “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and heal their land. Stop murmuring. No matter the situation, God can preserve us. Trust Him and turn away from wickedness, and He will heal you.”

The cleric emphasized that God desires to renew His covenant with Nigerians if they commit to genuine repentance and faith.

In the same spirit, Lagos State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Aso Rock Chaplain, Rev. Stephen Adegbite, described the celebration as a landmark moment of divine manifestation, increase, recovery, accomplishment, and blessings for the nation. He noted that Tafawa Balewa Square remains a historical site where Nigeria’s journey as an independent nation began, making the day especially symbolic.

Despite the heavy rainfall early in the morning, worshippers thronged the square as early as 6:00 a.m., defying the downpour to lift prayers and praises for Nigeria at 65. The event also marked the 70th anniversary of the Foursquare Gospel Church’s presence in the country.

Several other prominent church and community leaders participated in the special prayer event.
