All is set for the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the annual Ogere Remo Founder’s Day, popularly called ‘Lipakala Day’, slated for the middle of next month.
The landmark anniversary will bring together sons and daughters of Ogere Remo located in Ogun State, corporate giants, traditional and political leaders, community stakeholders, friends and well-wishers to honour the town’s rich history, cultural heritage and remarkable journey of development.
A statement by Dare Adekanmbi, chairman anniversary media sub-committee, said eminent personalities have been invited expected at the grand finale of the celebration on October 17, including the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu (LADO), who will both attend as special guests of honour.
The immediate past president of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) and Awokose Omoluabi Oodua, Dr Victor Alonge, will serve as chairman of the occasion where the town hopes to raise N2.5billion for infrastructural development.
Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is the chief host, while the Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi and the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Olugbenle are jointly the royal fathers of the day.
The statement quoted the Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi Saliu, said the 2026 edition is particularly significant as it marks 50 years of “promoting unity, preserving the cultural identity of Ogere Remo and mobilising its people for the advancement of the community.”
“The golden jubilee will provide an opportunity to celebrate the vision and sacrifices of the founding fathers, recognise individuals who have contributed to the growth of the town and renew the collective commitment of the people to building a more prosperous Ogere Remo,” Adekanmbi said.
The statement called on all indigenes, residents, friends and associates of Ogere Remo, both at home and in the diaspora, to participate in the historic celebration and make the 50th anniversary of Lipakala Day a memorable occasion.
