One person was confirmed dead, and multiple commercial tricycles were trapped when heavy winds blew down a gigantic commercial billboard in Aba, Abia State.

The winds, accompanied by rain, also wounded many others and fiercely destroyed belongings along the Aba-Owerri Road/Station Road axis, popularly known as Salad Market.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the massive commercial billboard caved in to blasts from high winds, falling headlong and trapping many tricycles with passengers who were caught in the aftermath.

He said the incident could have been averted if those who mounted the billboard at the location had done their work properly.

The state government and the police command had yet to comment on the incident at the time of this report.
