Confusion pervaded Abia State yesterday as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reverses itself in the result of Abia North senatorial rerun.
Yesterday morning at the Ohafia Local Government Area headquarters, INEC had declared the rerun which had former Abia STate governor Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu of the Progressive People Alliance (PPA); Chief Mao Ohuabunwa of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and David Ogba Onuoha of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) as candidates, as inconclusive, following irregularities leading to cancellation of some wards.
The INEC ordered supplementary polls in the affected area.
Few hours later INEC in Umuahia reverses the earlier position and declared Ohuabunwa winner for scoring 195 votes more that Kalu. The commission did not talk about supplementary election.
