Abia NIPR chairman regains freedom after 10 days in captivity

The chairman of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Felix Olungwa, abducted 10 days ago, has regained freedom.

Olunkwa was abducted on May 24, while driving home from a mechanic’s shop in Alaoji Aba, where he had gone to repair his uncle’s car.

His wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Olunkwa, raised the alarm after her husband failed to return home, and all attempts to reach him thereafter were unsuccessful.

Reports had it that his abductors initially demanded a ransom of N200m, but negotiations led to a reduction to N4m, which was said to have been paid on Wednesday night, leading to the NIPR chairman’s release.
