The Abeokuta Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has unveiled a 6000W/10KWh solar-powered inverter system to provide uninterrupted power supply for its and operations.
The branch equally inaugurated an 18-seater transit bus to enhance operational efficiency, sustainability and professional engagement of members.
While unveiling the projects in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, at a ceremony attended by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Public Works, Babatunde Adesina,
the President of the NSE, Margaret Oguntala, described the projects as strategic investments aligned with the Society’s vision for innovation and resilience.
“These are not just physical assets; they are strategic investments that reflect the spirit of innovation, resilience and progress that defines our profession.
“They align with the NSE Strategic Agenda, which places strong emphasis on operational excellence, sustainability and improved professional experience for engineers,” Oguntala said.
Highlighting the practical value of the projects, she said the bus would improve members mobility, outreach and community service, while the solar-powered system would guarantee a reliable power supply, reduce operational costs and promote sustainable energy use.
Oguntala, however, commended Aderemi Kilaso and Oludayo Aderinwale, who donated the solar-powered system and the bus, respectively, for their philanthropic gestures.

“I am particularly pleased that the solar system was executed by an indigenous engineering company, promoting local expertise and demonstrating trust in Nigerian engineers. This is the spirit we must continue to champion nationally,” she said.
The NSE President also praised past chairmen and members of the branch for laying a solid foundation for its growth, lauding the incubent chairman of the branch, Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, and his executive committee for exemplary leadership.
“Their dedication, innovation and administrative strength have led the branch into a season of transformational progress.
“If systems like this are replicated across Ogun State and Nigeria, we would see reduced reliance on diesel generators, lower operational costs, reduced emissions and enhanced productivity. This is engineering driving national development.” Oguntala stated
The Chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch, Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, said the projects were strategic investments designed to strengthen the Branch’s operations, visibility and professional impact across Ogun State.
“These projects symbolise innovation, progress, partnership, and our collective commitment to strengthening engineering excellence in Ogun State. This development is a historic milestone for the Branch.
“Today’s commissioning represents unity, progress, and shared purpose. It is a reflection of the strength of our engineering community and the possibilities that emerge when we work together”, Idowu submitted.
