Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has called for sustained unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasising the party’s role in fostering trust and managing diversity amid President Bola Tinubu’s transformative agenda.
Abdulrazaq, who spoke at the APC’s 8th National Convention in Abuja, described the gathering as more than a routine event but “a moment to reflect on who we are, what we stand for, and the responsibility we carry as leaders of our party and our country.” He stressed that “political parties endure not just because they win elections, but because they build trust, manage differences, and continue to offer direction in times of change. That is why this Convention matters.”
He highlighted the APC’s unique strength in unity, noting, “The APC has come this far because it has never been just an electoral platform. It is a party that has been able to bring people together, manage diversity, and move forward with a shared purpose. That ability to listen, to accommodate, and to stay united has been central to our strength.”

Abdulrazaq praised President Tinubu’s leadership, stating, “Under your leadership, our party has shown the courage to take difficult but necessary decisions. The Renewed Hope Agenda reflects a clear commitment to long-term progress, even when the path is not easy.”
He linked federal reforms to state-level implementation, adding, “At the subnational levels, we understand these imperatives. The states are where policies are most directly impacted, where national decisions meet everyday realities. Our task is to ensure that reforms lead to real improvements in the lives of our people.”
On economic measures, the NGF chair pointed to state-led initiatives, saying, “On fiscal matters, states have actively shaped reforms, ensuring they are practical and balanced. For instance, through the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER), states are strengthening their own revenue systems and improving land administration.”
Abdulrazaq urged party members to “continue to protect that culture, one of dialogue, inclusion, discipline, and collective responsibility”, as delegates gathered to reinforce APC’s direction ahead of 2027.
