Abducted Kaduna Judge regains freedom, children still held captive

Kidnappers demand N150 million as ransom

Janet Gimba, a judge at the Upper Customary Court in Kaduna State who was kidnapped by gunmen has been released.

Channels reports that Gimba’s release was confirmed by her husband, Musa Gimba, who added that three of their children abducted alongside their mother are still in captivity.

He revealed that the abductors are demanding a ransom of N150 million ransom and have threatened to kill the children if the money is not paid.

The judge who works at the Upper Customary Court, Sabon Tasha Division in Kaduna was taken with her children on June 24, 2024, in their home located in the Mahuta area of Chikun Local Government Area.

Following the development, the Kaduna State Police Command Spokesman, Mansir Hassan, shared that Gimba’s eldest son Victor was killed by the abductors.

Hassan also noted that the Command’s anti-kidnapping squad was working with other security agencies to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
