Professor George Chima, the abducted Chairman of Abia state Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), has regained his freedom.

Prof. Chima was reportedly abducted on Thursday morning by gunmen numbering four at his residence in Okigwe, Imo state.

It was reported that the gunmen stormed the ABSIEC Chairman’s house while he was playing host to some lecturers from the Abia State University, Uturu, who visited him, abducted and took him to an unknown destination.

Sunday Sun gathered that Prof. Chima was released by his abductors without payment of any ransom.

A source said his “benevolent” abductors equally returned his phones before allowing him to go.

Prof. Chima was reported to have confirmed his release and attributed it to God’s intervention.
