The Cross River State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of the Axe Men Confraternity and recovered a locally made pistol and other exhibits in Abini community in Biase Local Government Area.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the arrests were made by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Sector 2, following a petition from the Abini Community on July 29.
Eminue said the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance after the community reported suspected cult activities to the Commissioner of Police.

The suspects arrested are: Jester Enyi, 25; Godwill Mansala, 22; Prosper Okey, 23; Emmanuel Uno, 26; Onyebuchi Eyong, 22; Elisha Emmanuel, 27; Christian Esu, 25; Daniel Uno, 23; Nelson Ibete, 23; and Roland Uno, 18.
Items recovered include one locally made pistol, one battle axe, one dagger, a beret bearing a secret cult logo, aand one pair of police camouflage trousers.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to belonging to the Axe Men Confraternity, Eminue said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as intelligence-led and community-driven policing.
The CP said efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects linked to the case and assured that all those in custody will be investigated and prosecuted according to due process.
