The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has conferred a distinguished leadership award for peace, security and good governance on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in recognition of his developmental strides, which is being widely witnessed in the state.
The award ceremony which held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, formed part of the activities at the national Summit organized by NAWOJ tagged “Women In Security Summit and Awards 2026 with the theme “Strategic Role of Women In strengthening National Security Through Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Partnership
The award which was presented to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, was meant to recognize excellence in public service which the Kano State Government under the present administration was known for, hence the decision of NAWOJ to celebrate the Governor
Presenting the award to the Honourable Commissioner of information and internal affairs, who stood in for the Governor, by the Director General of National Blood Service Agency, Professor Saleh Yuguda, on behalf of NAWOJ, noted that the Association considered the sterling achievements of the Kano State Government under the able leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and found him worthy of this recognition, an accolade which shall certainly serve as motivation and inspiration for others to emulate
The female Journalists noted in particular the Governor Abba Kabir’s robust passion for women incluvesness in governance, where women occupy critical and strategic positions of authority in public service in the State civil and public service, a development which has apparently served as a moral booster to women. Women now lead strategic agencies in the State, reshaping Kano development agenda.
