The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed two filling stations in Ogun State for under-dispensing fuel and violating provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
The affected stations, Mangarborn Energy and Mobil Filling Station, are located in the Akute/Ajuwon area of Ifo Local Government Area.
Speaking during the enforcement exercise on Monday, the Head of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure at the NMDPRA Abeokuta Field Office, Olufemi Adebowale, said the action was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to protect consumers from exploitation and ensure strict compliance with petroleum regulations.
According to him, investigations showed that one of the stations had repeatedly under-dispensed petroleum products, illegally removed official seals placed on its premises and resumed operations without the regulator’s approval.
“It is high time we made it clear that they cannot continue to under-dispense products, deliberately remove our seals and believe that nothing will happen. That is why we are here to enforce the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021,” Adebowale said.

He disclosed that the authority had monitored the station’s activities since 2025, noting that it had been sealed at least six times for similar offences but continued to violate regulatory directives and ignored several invitations from the regulator.
Adebowale said the stations would remain shut until they met all regulatory requirements, including payment of applicable penalties. He added that the NMDPRA was also considering suspending the operating licences of the affected stations, subject to management approval.
The official warned filling station operators against under-dispensing fuel or tampering with the authority’s seals, stressing that offenders would face stiff sanctions under the Petroleum Industry Act.
He further cautioned that any attempt to reopen the sealed facilities or remove the regulator’s seals without authorisation would attract criminal prosecution.
