Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, has expressed profound grief over the death of eminent academic and elder statesman, Professor Jubril Aminu.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, Kalu described the late Professor Aminu as a patriotic Nigerian whose remarkable contributions to national development, particularly in education, diplomacy, and public service, left an enduring legacy.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Jubril Aminu, a distinguished scholar, diplomat, and statesman,” Kalu said. “He was a man of great intellect and integrity whose dedication to the service of our nation remains an inspiration.
“As Minister of Education and later Minister of Petroleum Resources, his visionary leadership made lasting impacts on key sectors. He was not only a national icon but also someone I held in high personal regard.”
Kalu, who also served as Chief Whip of the Senate, extended his heartfelt condolences to the Aminu family, the government and people of Adamawa State, and all Nigerians.
He prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved and eternal rest for the departed.
“Professor Aminu’s legacy lives on in the many lives he influenced and the institutions he helped shape. Nigeria has indeed lost one of her finest,” Kalu added.
Professor Jubril Aminu, a former Nigerian ambassador to the United States, served as Minister in two key federal ministries and represented Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2003 to 2011.
His death marks the passing of a towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and public service spheres.
