Ikenna Egbukole, the Executive Chairman of MITSUN Group, has been awarded Champion Newspaper’s Most Innovative CEO of 2024.

The award recognizes his exceptional leadership and groundbreaking efforts in driving business innovation in Nigeria and beyond.

The award will be officially presented at Champion Newspaper’s Annual Leadership Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place in April 2025 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

The event will bring together prominent leaders and innovators to celebrate excellence across various sectors.

Egbukole began his professional journey in the financial sector during his National Youth Service with IGI General Insurance. Over the next two decades, he rose through the ranks at top financial institutions, including First Bank and Standard Bank Group (Stanbic IBTC), where he held roles in Nigeria, South Africa, and London.

Specializing in structured and commodity finance, Egbukole managed portfolios worth over $1 billion, working with global clients such as Cargill, Bunge, and Olam. Reflecting on his expertise, he explained:
“Structured finance goes beyond balance sheets; it requires understanding cash flow, quality, and the entire supply chain. It’s about knowing the origin of what you’re financing.”

In 2020, Egbukole was honored with the prestigious First Bank MD/CEO Award for his exceptional contributions to the bank’s operations, including its subsidiaries in London. By December 2022, he transitioned from a successful banking career to join MITSUN Group, taking on the challenge of transforming the company into a global powerhouse.

Within just two years, Egbukole spearheaded MITSUN Group’s expansion by establishing offices in Dubai and Singapore to oversee African and Asian trade. His achievements culminated in his appointment as Executive Chairman of the Group.
