The Arewa Youth Assembly has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mele Kyari, for reviving the Port Harcourt Refinery.
According to the group, the development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards self-sufficiency in petroleum products.
The group in a statement signed by its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, said that NNPCL has broken another record by exceeding the N12.3tn revenue projected for 2024, already raking in N13.1tn.
This figure according to them, represents about N800bn more than the target set for the 2024 fiscal year, with a promising projection of remitting about N23.7tn into the federation account in the 2025 fiscal period.
“After breaking another record, the GCEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again put all naysayers and enemies of progress and development to shame, proving that indeed no smear campaign will tarnish his record of service to the nation and humanity at large.
“Most recently, under the able supervision of the GCEO, Mele Kyari, NNPCL has broken another record by exceeding the N12.3tn revenue projected for 2024, already raking in N13.1tn. This figure represents about N800bn more than the target set for the 2024 fiscal year, with a promising projection of remitting about N23.7tn into the federation account in the 2025 fiscal period.
“Another milestone recorded under Kyari is the increase in the production of barrels of crude oil per day. The production of crude oil and gas has increased to 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) and 7.4 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) per day, up from 1.43 mbpd. In addition, NNPCL under Kyari is targeting the possibility of reaching 2 mbpd by December, a great achievement for this nation.
“Furthermore, the GCEO of NNPCL, Mele Kolo Kyari, has ensured that the Port Harcourt refinery is fully revived and begins operations, with the first truck loading PMS under his supervision, while other refineries, including those in Kaduna and Warri, will also commence operations soon.
“This is unprecedented and reflects the kind of person the GCEO is. He is a true phenomenon in leadership. Whenever his name is mentioned, it inspires admiration and respect. His intelligence and charisma captivate everyone, making him an icon in leadership and the oil and gas sector.
“No doubt, against all odds, the stability and sustainability of Nigeria’s economy depend, to a large measure, on the preservation of the country’s economic mainstay, which is perfectly led, protected, and steered to greater heights by the GCEO of NNPCL, Mele Kolo Kyari,” the group added.
