Kebbi Beach Soccer League (KBSL) 2023/2024 super 4 has kicked off in Birnin Kebbi, the State Capital.
The commissioner of Youth and Sports Development in Kebbi State, Honourable Nurudeen Bala Fingilla who represented the State Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu performed the ceremonial kick-off ahead of the opening match of the Super 4 between Abdu Kalgo BSC and Magatakarda BSC.
Also in attendance is the Chairman of Kebbi State Football Association, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan.
Abdul Kalgo BSC beat Magatakarda BSC 5-3 in the first match while the second encounter between. Kebbi United BSC and Mayanan Bagudo BSC ended 3-1 in favour of Kebbi United.
Earlier, members of the Kebbi Beach Soccer Association and the Nigeria Beach Soccer Association (NBSA) led by Mahmud Hadejia who is also the President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) paid the commissioner a courtesy visit.
Hadejia informed the commissioner of the Kebbi Beach Soccer League for the 2023/2024 season which started in November 2023 with the Super 4 taking place from February 28 to March 2, 2024.
With the growth of beach soccer in the state, Hadejia urged the commissioner to facilitate a standard beach soccer facility in the State.
He also updated him on Kebbi State’s readiness to host one of the rounds of the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL).
The commissioner expressed readiness of the states government to develop beach soccer for the benefits of youths in the state.
He directed the organisers of the league to search for a permanent site for to be hosting the Kebbi Beach Soccer League.
“You can go ahead to search for a place that would be good for the permanent site for the game.
“Don’t let it be too far from the state capital so that lovers of this game can easily have access to it. Thereafter, you can put forward a proposal which by the grace of God this present administration would consider because Governor Dr Nasir Idris is always ready to support any programme that would uplift the growth of the youths in the state.” He concluded.
