• Berates Yewa/Awori Youth Network faceless group, peddling falsehood

From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta

Ogun West Coalition for Good Governance (OWECOGG) has berated a group, Yewa/Awori Youth Network, for falsely accusing the senator representing Ogun West senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi of alleged conversion of Federal Government-funded projects to his own personal projects.

OWECOGG equally faulted the allegations that the senator had connived with some federal government agencies to portray projects funded by the government as something done from his personal pocket.

Reacting to the allegations in a statement signed by the convener of the socio-political group, Adeosun Benjamin popularly known as Benji, on Wednesday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said that the accusations of Yewa/Awori Youth Network are not only untrue, but fabricated and sponsored by political traducers of the senator who are afraid of his political stature and popularity, not only in Ogun West, but in the entire state.

According to him, the “faceless group is only doing the job of its puppet masters masking themselves to launch attacks at the senator”.

Adeosun noted further that Senator Adeola has not failed to always indicate that he facilitated the projects to his senatorial district to enhance the socio-economic development of Ogun West, which according to him, has suffered stunted development over the years due to bad representation.

He added that if the “sponsored group” is truly pursuing the interest of Ogun West and has keenly followed the empowerment schemes of Senator Adeola, the group and its paymasters would have realized that the senator always disclosed the government agencies he facilitated the projects from.

While lampooning the group for embarking on a deliberate and orchestrated mission to mislead and misinform the Ogun West people, Adeosun said efforts by the Yewa/Awori Youth Network to discredit Adeola’s empowerment schemes across the five local government areas in the senatorial district will be futile as the people have come to realize the benefits of real dividends of quality representation first hand.

“It is a pity that at a time Ogun West people are starting to enjoy the benefits of good governance, through the sterling representation of Senator Adeola, a group is being allowed itself to be used by political traducers to do their hatchet jobs.

“For the avoidance of doubt and clarity purpose, Senator Adeola has always informed his people that all the beneficial projects are facilitated by him, in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

“For instance, the ICT training on security he facilitated for traditional rulers in Ogun West, he let the people know it was in collaboration with the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). For the scholarship and bursary schemes, he indicated that it was in collaboration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). For empowerment of artisans and various vocational trainings, particularly in aquaculture, the senator clearly stated that it was in conjunction with the Nigeria Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research. One then wonders how the sponsored group came up with their accusations?” The statement quipped.

He, pointed out that Senator Adeola as an experienced and ranking lawmaker will never be associated with fraudulent activities to score needless political points.

Benjamin, who observed that the tone of the news report smacks of personal attacks on Yayi, particularly, on his humane and philanthropic disposition, urged the group to desist from being used to drag Ogun West backwards.

He appealed to the people in the senatorial district to disregard the position of the group as a feeble attempt to misinform and mislead them, and a ploy to puncture the wheel of unity and progress the senator has brought to Ogun West.

The Convener of the OWECOGG, however, said that the calls on the anti-graft agencies by Yewa/Awori Youth Network, to probe the senator will be welcomed by the senator, submitting Adeola has nothing to hide.
