Barcelona is selling Camp Nou grass in mini stadiums and diamonds worth €15,000 to help raise funds for their elaborate ground renovation.
The Liga giant is splashing out €1.45 billion (£1.2bn/$1.6bn) on giving its famous home a serious facelift. The upgraded venue will look spectacular, but the work comes at some considerable cost for a club that has endured well-documented financial issues of late.
Barca, who is playing at the 54,000 capacity Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys for now, is expected to return to Camp Nou in 2025-26. In a bid to generate income prior to that, the Catalan heavyweight is exploring novel ways to make money.
Supporters can now purchase original grass from Camp Nou through the club’s official store. One of the products available, which features a scale model of the iconic venue, comes in at €49.99. Greenery can also be acquired in methacrylate for €79.99, or in a wooden frame for €419.99.
Barcelona is also selling a range of jewellery, with diamonds formed from the carbon of Camp Nou grass costing between €2,500 and €15,000. The Blaugrana claim that all grass-related products will maintain a “natural look for an unlimited period of time” as they do not require watering after already being treated.
