Governor Alex Otti of Abia has terminated all appointments for any form of revenue enforcement in the state.
This is even as the governor has suspended payments into banks from all unauthorised channels.
A release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kazie Ukoh, said the governor’s move was part of measures to sanitise activities around the transport sector and markets in the State.
The release which said the directive takes immediate effect, requested the affected persons to return all Government property in their possession to the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue and Digital Transformation, without delay.
The release stated that the Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue will advise further on the government’s plan in this regard.
Meanwhile, Otti has suspended payments to banks from all unauthorised channels.
A release by Uko said the Governor’s action was to ensure proper accountability and reporting.
Otti directed that all payments should be made through designated Bank Branches.
He said additional approved online and offline channels will be communicated by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue and Digital Transformation.
The announcement of the release is said to take immediate effect.
