About 8000 athletes across the country will compete during the MTN Champs Season two tournament in Calabar.
The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Adia Sowho who disclosed this in Calabar said out of this number about 2,300 came from Calabar alone.
She said Calabar holds a special place in the history of athletics, and here, we will witness the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.
She disclosed that seventy athletes selected from the previous four locations will participate in the Calabar Grand Finale as Team MVP, sponsored by MTN.
She added that the grand finale is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our athletes, coaches, and organizers as well as a chance to recognize the countless hours of training, the moments of triumph, and the bonds forged through a shared love of athletics.
This program, she said is paving the way for the future, nurturing talents and providing the support they need to reach their full potential.
The four days championship which commences on the 30th of April will have six championships go on simultaneously.
Also speaking, Agnes Atsu the Cross River State commissioner for sports development said the government welcomes the hosting of the tournament in the state.
She said the government is open to collaborations and partnership and will help facilitate a hitch free tournament.
