Philanthropist and soccer enthusiast, Dr. Adebola Ismail Akindele has disclosed that the forthcoming 7th Bola Akindele Cup final will supercede previous editions.
The Group Managing Director, Courteville Business Solutions PLC, stated this at the trophy presentation of the tourney whose final is billed for Sunday, 21 of July, 2024 at Gbajabiamila Sports Complex, Abati Barracks, Surulere, Lagos.
Having redefined the Under-15 competition ‘Eko Youth Cup’, Akindele hinted that he won’t relent in his bid to see grassroots football soar high. He however hailed organizers, Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association for their zeal towards football development.
“I ventured into this because I want to contribute to national development through sports by bankrolling the competition, while we hope that these players will seize the opportunity afforded them to better their careers.
‘ I must give kudos to the organizers who have been setting this up since the last seven years. My ideology is not only on sports development, I also have great plans for kids willing to shine in their academics. We also tagged the name of the competition ‘Eko Youth Cup’ with the plan to engage more youth. I’m also glad to see this competition has produced lot of soccer stars across the globe and this year edition won’t be left out for it have outlined a great plan which will see it outshine previous edition,’ he promised.
