The passing out ceremony for the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members was held, yesterday, in Abia State, with 740 corps members formally concluding their mandatory one year national service.
Speaking during the zonal certificate distribution ceremony held in Umuahia, the Abia State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr Yunusa Tanimu, congratulated the outgoing corps members on successful completion of their service year.
Tanimu said the ceremony was a significant phase of their national assignment, adding that the completion of the service year represented another milestone in a lifelong journey that began with primary education and progressed through secondary and tertiary institutions before culminating in participation in the NYSC scheme.
Describing the NYSC as one of Nigeria’s foremost platforms for nurturing responsible citizens and future leaders, Tanimu commended the corps members for their meaningful contributions to the socio economic development of Abia State and Nigeria through their various places of primary assignment.
He noted that many distinguished themselves through diligence, professionalism, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to duty.
The state coordinator, particularly, applauded corps members who executed impactful community development service projects, both individually and collectively, stressing that their interventions reflected the scheme’s enduring vision of community transformation through volunteerism and selfless service.
He urged the graduates to continue demonstrating patriotism, integrity, discipline, and dedication beyond the NYSC programme, adding that service to the nation does not terminate with the completion of the mandatory service year.
Delivering the goodwill message of the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the state coordinator reaffirmed the scheme’s continuing interest in the personal and professional advancement of all corps members long after the completion of national service.
He encouraged the outgoing corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the scheme wherever life may take them by upholding honesty, responsibility, respect for the rule of law, and exemplary conduct in both public and private engagements.
