From David Onwuchekwa, Nnewi

Five gunmen caused pandemonium in Nnewi, Anambah State, yesterday, where they abducted a lady who they forced out of her car to join three other victims already in their vehicle.

The kidnappers, operating with a Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) snatched from the owner, at Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area, according to a witness, stopped at Emecourt Road Junction, Nnewi, when the vehicle developed a fault.

They abandoned the vehicle and brought out their victims to transfer them to a Highlander Toyota snatched from another person at the junction. But one of the victims, a man, our source said, who was blindfolded, removed the blindfold and escaped into a nearby local market, while his abductors hurriedly zoomed off with other victims with the Highlander vehicle.

The hoodlums, who operated with lightning speed, had left before the security operatives, including local vigilance group and police, arrived the scene.

Contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the report was yet to get to him.
