A 35-year-old man simply identified as Usman Muhammed, resident of Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi has murdered his friend, Abubakar, 41, years in front of his wife and elderly mother over an unresolved misunderstanding.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Abubakar who confirmed the incident, said that the victim and the suspect were friends before they had the misunderstanding.
He said: “The deceased and the assailant are friends who had a misunderstanding only for Usman to go to to late Abubakar house in broad daylight with a sharp machete and attack him in different places in the presence of his aged mother and his wife. The elderly mother who attempted to stop the hacking of her son was too weak to stop the carnage due to her age. In the process, she sustained severe cuts on her hands.”
SP Nafiu added that the suspect had been arrested and handed over to the homicide section for deep investigation as ordered by the police commissioner, Chris Aimionowane. He said the suspect will be arraigned for prosecution after the conclusion of investigation.
