The lawmaker representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Bassey Akiba says N100million educational intervention is ongoing in his constituency.

This intervention, he said is presently addressing the educational needs of over 3,000 students within the Constituency.

He explained that the intervention is being carried out transparently and in phases to ensure the funds get to the right hands.

“I believe education is the strongest investment we can make in our future, which is why I committed N100million to support students across our constituency.

“This intervention was carefully divided to cover school fees, examinations, and learning materials for primary, secondary, tertiary, and vulnerable students, ensuring that over 3,000 young people benefit in a fair and structured manner.

“Last year, we supported students with N50million, but seeing the growing needs, I expanded it this year to N100million so that more families and more students can be covered.

” I also ensured that accountability guided the entire process. Beneficiaries were identified through verified school records and genuine need assessments, with special priorities given to examination classes and indigent students.

“The full list of beneficiaries will be published on our website for public verification, because I owe my people that level of openness and accountability,” he stated.

Akiba added that the goal is to keep children in school, reduce the burden on families, and build a stronger, more educated future for students in the constituency.
