3 regulatory bodies induct 28 PH varsity graduands

Twenty-eight graduands of PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have been inducted into three different national professional bodies.  The graduands, who were from Departments of Medical Laboratory Science (seven), Nursing Science (18) and Radiography and Radiation Science (three), were yesterday, jointly inducted by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) respectively.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, PUMS, Dr Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers State, stated that the event was not common, adding that it was a reflection of credible leadership of the three regulatory bodies to jointly induct the graduands.

Odili charged them to be good ambassadors of the institution and their different professions.

He acknowledged the commitment of Rivers State government to ensuring that the students had seamless academic programmes which made it possible for them to achieve their academic dreams.

In his welcome address, the acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Smith Jaja, said PUMS was proud to announce to the world the quality of students who were inducted into the highly respected and valuable disciplines.

Professor Jaja stated that all the graduates had passed through all the necessary requirements that qualified them as medical laboratory scientists, nurses and radiographers.

He charged them to always uphold the ethics of the professions and abide by them, as well as serve humanity with commitment and compassion.

The induction lecturer, Prof. Tatfeng  Mirabeau, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, tasked the inductees to practise their professions with diligence, compassion.
