The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed two cannabis farms measuring 1.851591 hectares and recovered an estimated 4,628.9775 kilogrammes of cannabis in separate operations across the state.
The command also arrested 10 suspected drug traffickers and recovered various quantities of illicit substances during the operations.
The operations followed credible intelligence and were conducted at Ugboku, Igbanke Forest, in Orhionmwon Local Government , as well as at Oluku and Abuja Quarters in Benin City.
According to the Commander of Narcotics in charge of the NDLEA Edo State Command, Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the operations were carried out in line with the operational order of the agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), to dislodge illicit drug locations nationwide.
Ofoyeju said the command discovered and destroyed two cannabis farms with a combined estimated yield of 4,628.9775kg.
He said one suspect, 40-year-old Agholor Elebojie, was arrested in connection with the first farm, which measured 0.699792 hectares and had an estimated yield of 1,749.26kg of cannabis.
The second farm, measuring 1.151889 hectares, had an estimated yield of 2,879.7225kg and was also destroyed.
Two bags of processed cannabis sativa weighing 12.4kg were additionally recovered from the second farm.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives raided and dislodged drug flashpoints at Oluku and Abuja Quarters, G.R.A., in Oredo LG, Benin City.

The operation led to the arrest of 10 suspected male drug traffickers with various quantities of illicit substances.
At Oluku, operatives arrested 28-year-old Kingsley Anigala, from Aniocha South LG, Delta State, with 25.857kg of cannabis and 93 grammes of methamphetamine.
He was arrested on August 14, 2026.
At Abuja Quarters, nine suspects were arrested on August 13, 2026.
They were identified as Usman Adamu, 20, from Nasarawa State, who was allegedly found with 47 grammes of Loud and 160 grammes of cannabis sativa; Abdullahi Adamu, 25, also from Nasarawa State, with 107 grammes of Loud, 2.1 grammes of Swinol and 0.1 grammes of Danabol; Nasiru Yahaya, 29, from Katsina State, with 226 grammes of cannabis sativa; Yunusa Musa, 28; Musa Shehu, 25; Kabiru Salisu, 28; Adamu Zakaria, 26; Abdulrasheed Sani, 35; and Peter Hycent, 35.
The suspects were said to be from Nasarawa, Kano and Benue states.
The NDLEA said the nine suspects were arrested with a combined haul of 1.3kg of cannabis sativa, 3kg of Loud, 301 grammes of 100mg Tramadol, 19 grammes of 225mg Tramadol, 47 grammes of Diazepam, 5 grammes of Swinol, 8 grammes of Danabol and 3 grammes of methamphetamine.
The agency said all the suspects had been taken into custody while investigations were ongoing ahead of their prosecution.
